Which rules apply in Hamilton?
The City of Hamilton's Building Division issues the permits. It reviews a permit for the Ontario Building Code, "Hamilton's Zoning By-law", the "Niagara Escarpment Commission and Conservation Authorities Regulations" and other provincial and municipal rules (City of Hamilton, read October 30, 2026). The City's Building Division answers at 905-546-2720, at City Hall, 71 Main Street West. Its online customer portal at my.hamilton.ca takes permit applications from the owner or an agent acting for the owner.
